Verbatim 10400mAh Power Bank Unboxing
I recently found a Verbatim 10400mAh power bank at Popular Book Store selling for S$17.90 (U.P. S$32.90) and decided to grab one to review. Even at its usual price, it is only a couple of dollars more expensive than the Mi Power Bank 2 (U.P. $28.80), which makes it one of the more affordable power banks in the market.
In the box you will find an instruction manual, a micro USB cable, as well as the power bank itself. Like all other cables from power banks I have unboxed, this one is really short. This cable is of pretty good build quality so there is no need to toss it away.
This Verbatim power bank comes in two colour options: black and white. The one I got is the black version, but it looks closer to the grey on the Plantronics Explorer 80 I reviewed recently. Glossy plastic covers the back and front, while matte plastic surrounds the sides. Not the best looking/feeling power bank for sure.
Now to the ports. The Verbatim 10400mAh power bank has two regular USB ports for charging your devices and a micro USB port for charging the power bank. One port is rated up to 2.1A while the other is 1.0A, but the total output is only 2.1A.
Other than the ports and a power button, there is nothing else along the side of the power bank. The specs of the 10400mAh power bank are written on the back. Its dimensions are really similar to that of the classic Mi Power Bank, just slightly narrower and taller.
One thing I am definitely not a fan of is the battery indicator. They are really dim and with the glossy surface, I had a hard time viewing it under the sun. Also, the square cutout around the lights does not reflect well on its craftsmanship.
Does the Verbatim 10400mAh power bank deserve your money? Can it beat the competition? In the next two weeks, I will be putting it through vigorous testing, as well as comparing it to some of its hottest competitors. Stay tuned for the review!
